Clean shaved faces, formalin-soaked hands, clenched by our aprons in unison… almost as if “until death do us part”…This is how I would describe a male first-year medical student. I’ve been a student before, but medical college seems to have redefined what it means to be one, especially because here sustaining human life is an integral part of the plan. As the season changes, the temperature rises and falls, the leaves die and are born anew, the days shorten and lengthen, so does the life of a medical student, ever-changing like a dance of duality, duality of hope and despair.
