“The internet has become an online extension of our brain. We are simply replacing the ability to recall specifics with the certainty that we have them stored somewhere and we can always look them up”.

As a student of anatomy, I can recall memory regions of brain. Yet…In spite of having so many memory areas, I don’t remember when was the last time I tried to memorize someone’s mobile number? Maybe, in the present scenario I don’t need to …As in my pocket I carry a smart phone. Using a mobile, I can talk to a person by just remembering his/her name. I remember, in school, I knew the names of all the past presidents of India. Now, if someone asks me I just “Google” the answer. So, why should I need to remember when the information I require is so easily accessible? I am sure, I am not alone and many would feel like me….So, is technology kind of taking away our memory skills because now we don’t need to memorize? Are we living in the age of digital amnesia?
