 We as members of the medical fraternity need to understand and appreciate the differences in perspectives and outlook of both sexes. This will help in realization of optimal outcomes in personal and professional endeavors.
Most people would agree that men and women are different, but most people still have not defined how they differ? In the past decade, many books have attempted to define these differences. Significant progress has been made, but many books are one-sided and unfortunately reinforce mistrust and resentment towards the opposite sex. A definitive guide was needed to understand the differences between healthy men and women. Improving gender relations requires understanding our differences while enhancing self-esteem and personal dignity, encouraging mutual trust, personal responsibility, enhanced cooperation and greater love. As we explore these differences, we will feel the walls of resentment and distrust melt away. Imagine that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. Long ago, the Martian’s discovered the Venusian’s through telescopes. Just looking at the Venusian’s aroused emotions they didn’t know they had. They fell in love and soon invented space travel and flew to Venus. The Venusian’s’ welcomed the Martian with open arms. They intuitively knew this day would come. Their hearts opened wide for a love they had never felt before. The Venusian-Martian love was magical. They were happy together, did things together, shared moments and were just together. They came from different worlds, but enjoyed their differences. They spent months learning from each other, exploring and evaluating their different needs, preferences and behaviors and harmony..
