Earth is 4.5 billion years old now. It’s hosted life for 3.7 billion of those years and continues to do so. To what end , though? For a planet lucky enough to be in the Goldilocks Zone of our solar system (that is, having the correct distance from the parent star to hold habitable atmospheric temperatures), it feels as if its key inhabitants are the harbingers of demise.
