The Best rat of the race

A doctor by profession ,working and hustling hard for whom is a way of life and who has two incredibly kind ,patient and supportive kids, I very well identify what all is not normal with our lives and yet we pursue it.

We spend our lives on the never ending project of learning and updating our skills in an attempt to earn something ranging from two square meals to material excess and as parents we set off the cycle again, trying to make our children employable and earn themselves a comfortable future. Despite being a part of it, despite knowing that there should be more to life, you cannot beat the ways of the world so you set them off the same path feted as glorious, but we all know what it takes.
The mother in me however wishes not such a mechanical childhood for my kids .At the same time I see that it is the only way, at least in my part of the world.
So I find solace in humour and have written this something ,a poem that I call “The best rat of the race”.
