“Simmering in silent agony,
The dreams of millions were burnt on the pyre of death.
The sparks
Of   what  could have  been  fizzled  and doused  away at the very onset
Were victims of ignorance
Leading to the kiss of death”

The year 2019, the year that started with the Pre-Boards Examinations, followed by the JEE and the Class XII Board Examinations and finally the much awaited NEET Examinations. The NEET result brought me to one of the best med-schools of the region, the Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh, 450 kms away from my hometown, Guwahati. Really, what a year it had been. My thoughts on the journey of 2019 ended as did my walk back from the college to my hostel room. It was around late-November and early December. The winter here had set in. I shivered as I poured the icy-cold water over me. Having a proper bath, warm or cold. however late, had become an unavoidable necessity after the dissection classes daily. Sipping my daily dose of tea, I sat down at my study table and scrolled lazily across the messages and daily news on my phone screen.
